With the overabundance of rain that has already fallen in the month of July, the Lehigh Valley is about to add to that total with another round of storms this week says the National Weather Service.

Those who made a decision to start their weekend getaway at the shore early on Friday were in for a rude awakening.

There's a severe thunderstorm warning for southeastern Jefferson County, southwestern Lewis County and northeastern Oswego County.

Weekend forecast: Heavy rainfall is possible Saturday afternoon and evening. Past year on this date the high was 82 and the low was 50. Saturday will b e sunny, with a chance of a thunderstorm.

Showers will come to an end around southwest Louisiana by this evening. Next chance for rain?

Today, it will be sunny with a high near 94 and a south wind of 3 to 5 miles per hour, the weather service said.

Thursday: Sunny and hot, with a high near 102. East northeast wind 5 to 8 miles per hour.

Tuesday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms.

The high should drop slightly Friday with a high near 87 degrees.

For the weekend, we will have partly cloudy skies becoming mostly cloudy later in the day. North wind 3 to 5 miles per hour.

NEXT WEEK: We'll have just a few showers and storms Monday afternoon. Lows in the lower 70s.

Tuesday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms.

Friday - Sunny, with a high near 83.

Tuesday - Sunny, with a high near 81.

Showers and thunderstorms are likely before 3 a.m. tonight. Light and variable wind. Rain chances are up to 60%. Winds could gust as high as 25 miles per hour. North wind 7 to 10 miles per hour.

Sunday night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 71. North wind 3 to 7 miles per hour.

Monday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 71. So, if you find yourself under one of the tropical downpours, expect to receive a.50-2.00 inches of rain within a short period of time.

Wednesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 91. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 67. The high is expected to reach 94 degrees. Perhaps the biggest threat, however, will be periods of heavy rain and potential flash flooding. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 63. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible. Look for a high of 84 on Saturday and 88 on Sunday. Northwest wind 3 to 5 miles per hour. The low will be around 65.

Monday night: A chance of showers. The low will be around 64.

Thursday, July 20 - Mostly sunny, with a high near 93.
