Android 7.0 Nougat introduces notable changes to the OS (operating system) and its development platform. The smartphone will be competing against the likes of Xiaomi Redmi 4 and Moto E4. A few weeks earlier we have seen, the company launching Canvas 2 (2017) which is the successor of last years Canvas 2.

The Canvas 1 comes in Matte Black and Chrome Black colors and is priced Rs. 6,999. The phone is already available in retail stores and is priced at Rs 6, 999. There is the one full year warranty as well on the Micromax Canvas 1 and these 100 days will be counted within that. In the case of any issue with the device, the company says the smartphone will be replaced, no questions asked. It comes with slim bezels on the edges and front comes with the selfie camera module, the earpiece grille, and the display. Instead, it features touch enabled menu buttons. The rear camera has a flash support. Right below the camera is the Micromax logo.

In terms of specifications, the Micromax Canvas 1 comes equipped with a 5-inch TFT HD display with a screen resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels and a scratch resistance 2.5D curved glass coating on top.


"Canvas 1" is powered by a MediaTek MT6737, quad-core 1.3GHz processor along with 2GB RAM and 16 GB ROM that is expandable up to of 32 GB via SD card.

In the camera department, there is an 8-megapixel rear camera with Dual-tone LED Flash, f/2.2 aperture, 1.4um Pixel Size, 80-degree wide-angle lens and a 5-megapixel shooter up front with LED flash, 85-degree wide-angle lens for selfies and video calls.

The connectivity options on the device include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, GPS, A-GPS and also has other sensors like accelerometer, gyroscope, pedometer, and magnetometer. The Canvas 1 sips its juice from a 2,500mAh battery which is claimed to offer at least up to 7 hours of talk time and 180 hours of standby time on normal usage.
