A new space-themed restaurant and Mission: Space upgrades were announced for Epcot at D23 Expo 2017.At D23 Expo 2017, Imagineer Tom Fitzgerald announced that a new space-themed table service restaurant is being built in Epcot's Future World near Mission: Space, which is also being upgraded. Looking ahead to the 50th Anniversary of Walt Disney World, a brand-new E-ticket attraction based on the rockin' and action-packed world of Guardians of the Galaxy will be among their exciting plans. Disney Parks and Resorts Chairman Bob Chapek announced the news about the rides, and he hopes that some new brand-named attractions will help Epcot compete with more popular parks like Disney's Hollywood Studios and the Animal Kingdom.

On the other side of the park, the Ratatouille ride-which first opened at Disneyland Paris-is coming to Epcot's World Showcase.

Ellen's Energy Adventure, a theater show about energy sources, will be replaced by a new roller coaster themed after Guardians of the Galaxy, the 2014 movie based on the the Marvel Comics superhero team.

Expect things to get very meta, because apparently, a young Peter Quill visited Epcot before he was whisked away from Earth. D23 uncovered that the ride will take after the Guardians as they arrive on Earth, where Rocket Raccoon takes an old photograph of Quill as the gathering researches. Don't expect it to be as high-adrenaline as Mission: Breakout!

The restaurant, which will be located adjacent to the park's Mission: Space attraction, will be operated by the Patina Restaurant Group.

Ken Potrock, Senior Vice President & General Manager of Disney Vacation Club, said, "The opening of Copper Creek Villas & Cabins at Disney's Wilderness Lodge in just a few days and the announcement of our next planned development, Disney Riviera Resort, demonstrate the incredible momentum underway at Disney Vacation Club".

Chapek likewise declared that the "shut for restoration" Mission: Space will re-open with another "Green" mission, while the current "Orange" trek to Mars will be more tremendous. Elsewhere, the whole entrance to Epcot is getting an overhaul, but undoubtedly Guardians and Ratatouille are the biggest news.
