Speaking to TOI, MIM legislator from Aurangabad, Imtiaz Jaleel, said, "The Congress chief has spoken to our president, Asaduddin Owaisi, with a request that we vote for the opposition's candidate. The person should be the right guardian of the Constitution and its values, and Meira Kumar is the right person", Surjewala told ANI. "When there is a clash of ideologies, I think that our candidate is the best", Azad said.
The Congress and NCP in their meeting also said that like minded parties such as CPM, Samajwadi Party, Peasants and Workers Party and MIM will vote for the UPA nominee Meira Kumar. "It would have been good if a Muslim was made the VP.Nevertheless, we hold Gopalkrishna Gandhi in high regard", Jaleel said.

MIM has distanced with Congress during the last elections and at the same time could not support BJP's Candidate, Ram Nath Kovind who has RSS backing.
