BJP launches 'Save Bengal' campaign from Rajghat
"We have registered an FIR against Roopa Ganguly and legal proceedings is on", said Dhrubajyoti Dey, DC (Belgharia) of Barrackpore Commissionerate.
Ganguly, who was referring to present law and order situation in Bengal, asserted that the Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPM) and TMC destroyed the state and the BJP was there to fight against them. "I am forced to behave like this because you have ruined West Bengal", said Roopa Ganguly slamming the TMC government. "If they are able to survive there for 15 days without getting raped, then tell me", she said nearly unapologetically, without even realizing that rape isn't something that you can just casually use for political purposes.
"First of all, she should say how many times she has been raped in Bengal".
"Before accusing the entire state. she should also speak out how many times she has been raped in Bengal, then it will be realised what is the truth behind this utterance", said minister Sobhandeb Chattopadhyay.
Ganguly's follow-up on her freakish statement saying-a fortnight was longer than women could survive in the state without protection-is even worse.
Chattopadhyay said a sane person can not use such a language about her own state.
When asked if she fears losing votes due to her comments that invoked public sentiments, she said that it did not bother her adding that the TMC leadership should take notice of the plight of women instead of fighting with her.
"Tapas Paul openly said he will send people to get women raped".
West Bengal seems to have become the centre of chaos and violence, with an agitation going on in Darjeeling over demand for a separate statehood and a recent violence in Basirhat, where communal clashes broke out over a "controversial" social media post.
