Singer Aaron Carter arrested for DUI, drug possession; girlfriend also arrested

Singer Aaron Carter was arrested in Georgia under suspicion of driving under the influence and marijuana possession, the Habersham County sheriff's office said.

The 29-year-old singer was arrested alongside girlfriend Madison Parker, according to a statement from Floyd Canup, Captain of the Habersham County Sheriff's Office.

In addition to the DUI charge, Carter was arrested for possession of marijuana and drug-related objects.


As of early Sunday, Carter was still in police custody, ABC News reported.

Prior to his arrest, his staff wrote on Twitter that Carter was going to miss a Saturday show in Kansas City citing "transportation issues".

Carter is the younger brother of Nick Carter, a former member of the group "Backstreet Boys". Aaron Carter's second album, Aaron's Party (Come Get It), was released in 2000 and sold over 3 million copies in the U.S. In 2009, Carter was on season nine of Dancing With The Stars and finished in fifth place.
