On his return from Ranchi late Friday night after appearing in courts in connection with the fodder scam cases, Lalu had said that Tejashwi would not resign and claimed that the case against him was "politically motivated".

A senior RJD legislator Shrinarayan Yadav said the JD-U leaders were speaking the language of the BJP, and went on to add: "If JD-U wants to go with BJP, it is free to do so". He also dismissed reports of a rift in the "mahagatbandhan", the JD (U), RJD, and Congress alliance that rules the state.

All eyes are now set on the crucial Janata Dal (United) or JDU meet on Sunday as Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar will take stock of political situation second time in a week. It is our baby (the grand alliance), which was initiated by Nitish Kumar.

Since then, the two parties have directed barbs at each other, increasing pressure on chief minister Nitish Kumar to sack Tejashwi to protect an image of clean governance.

This was seen as an attempt by the chief minister to maintain a distance with the RJD minister.

Organised to mark the completion of an eventful year that saw the enrolment of 1.13 lakh and passing out of 43,000 youths under the aegis of Bihar Skill Development Mission, the function was slated to be inaugurated by the chief minister.

According to RJD leaders, if Lalu Prasad Yadav decides to, he will not have much difficulty in getting 122 MLAs to support his son as CM. "I totally reject this", he said.

Meanwhile, Congress president Sonia Gandhi is in touch with both Lalu and Nitish to convince them not to take any step which could adversely affect the ruling alliance in Bihar. He also refused to disclose the known sources of his income as demanded by the JD (U) earlier in the day. Being a minority partner, the question they are agonising over is which side to back if the alliance does break.

Tejashwi Yadav is being groomed to succeed his father Lalu Yadav in Bihar politics and charges leveled against him may hamper his ambitions.

Tejashwi Yadav has tweeted that he will not resign from his post and the rumours of his resignation are fake.

A JD (U) leader said discussion in the party forum have touched various aspects on whether to remain in the alliance or part ways.
