That's when temperatures will be shooting up, along with uncomfortable humidity. As of now, there is a chance of showers and thunderstorms in the forecast for Tuesday, though they are likely to be widely separated and generally limited to the afternoon and evening hours.

Chance of a shower or thunderstorm. Highs will be in the mid 80s. The heat, humidity and unsettled pattern continues into the weekend. The high pressure system will slow the progress of the cold front, allowing for several days under the soupy air mass.

"We do have a chance of thunderstorms here in the Valley, in addition to the chance of gusty winds from the storms in the area", said Elizabeth Padian, a meteorologist at the Weather Service. Dry and warm conditions will return next weekend.

Sunday: Clearing early, then winds and clouds increase again by mid-day with afternoon showers possible (30%), especially north of Detroit. Lows will be in the 50s on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday morning. Highs could reach or exceed 90 degrees away from the water!

Chippewa River water levels are continuing to recede following Thursday night's heavy rains and despite an isolated one to two inches of rain that fell Saturday afternoon. The high will be near 86. High temperatures will be in the middle to upper 80s through Wednesday. Mostly sunny Thursday through Monday, highs around 100. Highs will be in the upper 80s.
