Trump Confirms He Called House Repeal Bill 'Mean,' Claims Obama Copied Him

26 June 2017, 04:26 | Laverne Osborne

"Our veterans have fulfilled their duty to our nation and now we must fulfill our duty to them", Trump said during a White House ceremony.

It's also "mean" to force people to pay for insurance they don't want or pay a fine, "mean" to force companies to pay for insurance instead of be able to grow and "mean" to force insurance companies to offer plans with coverages clients don't want.

A total of five Republican senators are now opposed to the proposed GOP health bill.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell of Ky. walks on to the Senate floor on Capitol Hill in Washington, Thursday, June 22, 2017, following a meeting with Senate Republicans on a health reform bill. Facing unanimous Democratic opposition, McConnell can afford to lose just two of the 52 GOP senators and still prevail.

Democrats hope to use those rules to erase some language from the bill, including a section barring consumers from using the measure's health care tax credits to buy insurance that covers abortions.

"It would be so great if the Democrats and Republicans could get together, wrap their arms around it and come up with something that everybody's happy with", the president said.

Even at that, premiums will continue to rise in the state and across the country as they have for every year of the plan, according to an acturial consulting firm. "The level of hostility". Elizabeth Warren in the same interview: "She's a hopeless case".

Centrist Republicans and medical organizations said the bill would leave millions of Americans without health care or with fewer benefits and would cut Medicaid by $800 billion.

Trump told Fox that health care is "a very complicated subject", and any changes will draw opposition from one group or another.

Trump said the negotiations are continuing.

McConnell has said he's willing to make changes to win support, and in the week ahead, plenty of backroom bargaining is expected.

"I would like to delay", said Sen. "They're doing the same old Washington thing, throwing more money at the problem".

Others, like Sens. Dean Heller of Nevada, Shelly Moore Capito of West Virginia and Rob Portman of OH, have pointed to concerns about the proposal's cuts to Medicaid.

While the Congressional Budget Office has yet to release an analysis of the Senate bill, similar Medicaid provisions outlined in the House bill were projected to result in more than $800 billion in federal funds being cut from Medicaid over the next 10 years.

"Threading that needle is going to be very, extremely hard", she said. Under questioning by Stephanopoulos, Collins did not say whether the Planned Parenthood funding would make or break her decision on the health care bill.

The Senate bill resembles legislation the House approved last month.

The measure appears to include deep cuts to Medicaid and fundamentally reshapes that program from an open-ended government commitment to a system of capped federal payments that limit federal spending.

But Johnson did not say whether, if forced to vote on the bill, he would vote "no". "But we won't get one Democratic vote - not one". Famous last words, right?

"I don't think he's leading it", Trump said. We don't have too much of a choice because the alternative is the dead carcass of ObamaCare.

The effort to repeal and replace ObamaCare, one of Trump top campaign pledges, is making its way through the Republican-controlled Senate, with a vote expected this week.

The Senate bill would also erase the tax penalties Obama's 2010 law imposes on people who don't purchase insurance.

"The ultimate goal is nothing less than a transformation of the culture within the VA so that our veterans receive the best care possible", McCarthy said.
