Girl falls from Six Flags gondola ride in upstate NY

She said the teenager was in good spirits. "It was just good to see people band together to do what they could do".

"As my dad went down I held her up and passed her along", Winchell said.

Authorities say the girl fell from the vehicle and struck a tree before landing in the crowd. My husband ran around looking for a ladder or something to help while others gathered to catch her.

A 14-year-old who fell out an amusement park ride was saved after rescuers caught her.

Winchell says the girl's brother was in the chair with her and was crying for help.

"God dropped an angel, and I caught her", said Howard, a 47-year-old Schenectady resident.

Lent filmed the incident and posted it to Facebook. "It was about a minute and 30 seconds before the cable auto came to a stop". "I'm not going to let you fall", Howard said.

"She had a neck brace on", Howard said.

Loren Lent, from Glenville, said Sunday that his 10-year-old daughter and wife had also been on the ride and watched from high above as the girl fell.

Mr Lent said he thought it took too long for park employees to stop the ride and give help. It is unclear why the girl was hanging.

A day at the amusement park became anything but fun for a girl who's seen in video dangling from a ride as shocked bystanders wait anxiously to catch her from below.

On their way toward the exits, his daughter Hayzel, 4, stopped to dance with Six Flags staff.

On Sunday, park officials said the ride had been cleared for operation, but would remain closed.

When asked about safety procedures at the park, Hansen said all rides have a standard evacuation plan.

"As part of our annual practice an evacuation drill is conducted in partnership with local emergency personnel on this particular ride each spring", a spokesperson told The Washington Post. She was then later transported to Albany Medical Center where police say she remains in stable condition.

"Every situation is unique and requires the appropriate time and tools for the evacuation", Wood said in a statement.

The terrifying moment a 14-year-old fell from a ride in NY has been captured on video.
