CBO Set to Release Analysis of Senate Healthcare Bill Monday

26 June 2017, 01:06 | Laverne Osborne

"I will study the bill to determine whether it fulfills President Trump's campaign promises to lower premiums, maintain coverage and protect those with preexisting conditions without mandates", he said.

Former President of the United States Barack Obama after a discussion about democracy at Church Congress on May 25, 2017 in Berlin, Germany.

Sandoval said he would do "everything in my power" to make sure those people can maintain the quality of life they now have.

As Republicans scrambled Sunday to wrangle enough votes to pass health care reform legislation, U.S. president Donald Trump - in an unusual bid to reach out to his political opponents - urged Democrats to support bill.

As a military veteran who uses the VA, and as someone who now works in the health care field, I believe a single-payer Medicare-for-all system is the only one that will truly work.

"I hope that our Senators, many of whom I know well, step back and measure what's really at stake and consider that the rationale for action, on healthcare or any other issue, must be something more than simply undoing something that Democrats did", he wrote.

"I regret that our Democratic friends made clear early on that they did not want to work with us in a serious, bipartisan way to address the Obamacare status quo". Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has said he would like to hold a vote this week before lawmakers break for the July Fourth holiday.

Toomey, who helped craft the proposal, is among a handful of Republican lawmakers who support it, according to a roundup by The Washington Post.

Sen. Susan Collins of ME reiterated her opposition to language blocking federal money for Planned Parenthood, which many Republicans oppose because it provides abortions. States like Montana would have to come up with the money to cover additional costs, turn people away or make cuts to the people covered by the program.

The Congressional Budget Office has yet to release estimates on the Senate health care bill.

On Friday, Sanders tweeted that thousands would die if the Senate passed its version of the health care bill as it now exists.

Gov. Christie's spokesman has said he will not comment on this pending health care legislation, that the process of finalizing a bill is a long one.

Menendez said the Senate's bill to repeal Obamacare could ultimately slash $30 billion in Medicaid funding in New Jersey, where more than a half-million people enrolled under Medicaid expansion could lose coverage.

Republican leaders are expected to bring the 142-page bill to a vote this week.

The Senate needs support from 50 of its 52 Republicans to pass the bill.

Realizing they're outnumbered, Democrats and their liberal allies were planning events around the USA over the next few days aimed at building public opposition to the bill.

Trump said getting approval would require travelling a "very, very narrow path" but that "I think we're going to get there".

We're going to have to see what the Congressional Budget Office says about what this would do the insurance system and what it would do the federal deficit.
