The usually ho-hum NBA Draft suddenly got incredibly interesting overnight, with the confirmation of the long-suspected trade between Philly and the Boston Celtics, that will now see the Sixers pick first overall in the draft, rather than the Boston boys.
Barring any other changes before Thursday, the first four spots in this year's draft order would mirror the first-four from last year: Philadelphia at No. 1, the Los Angeles Lakers at No. 2, Boston at No. 3 and Phoenix at No. 4.
If the Lakers pick does not fall in that range in 2018, the Celtics will choose between the Kings' first-round pick in 2019 (which now belongs to the 76ers) or the 76ers' own first-round pick in 2019.
Ainge didn't rule out the possibility that Boston could utilize the No. 3 pick in a secondary move but seemed to hint that the team made this initial move simply because it believed it could add a future pick while still getting its desired player.
The Celtics have been linked with either Josh Jackson of Kansas or Jayson Tatum of Duke at No. 3, although multiple media outlets reported the team may be willing to deal the pick. Lonzo Ball could also become a Celtic if the Lakers decide to take Jackson second overall.
The Sixers, who are expected to select Washington guard? Per NBA.com's David Aldridge, the Pacers might seek upwards of two first-round draft picks packaged with a starter for George. "I can't wait for the draft on Thursday and continue to move forward".
California guard Jabari Bird, who worked out for the Sixers on Monday, thinks Fultz will standout at the next level.
Once Boston landed the No. 1 pick in the May 16 draft lottery, Colangelo said he expressed his interest in the top selection to Zarren.
Since the news spread over the weekend of the trade, many National Basketball Association fans have already begun trusting in the process.
"We feel like it's a jump-start for us", Ainge said.
It means that the 76ers will have Ben Simmons and this year's first overall pick on the court next year along with Joel Embiid, 2014's third overall pick too provided they all remain healthy. These seven picks, or the players they produce, allow Boston to acquire proven All-Star talent. They also, of course, will be trading their No. 3 overall pick in this year's National Basketball Association draft as well. He shot 47.6 percent, averaged along with 5.9 assists, 5.7 rebounds and 1.6 steals over 25 games during his freshman season with the Huskies, who posted a 9-22 record.
"He's so young. I think he's a special talent". Specifically, the Dubs could use their Bird rights on Iguodala for a more affordable deal than what he might obtain on the open market. "We felt it was very close in the top handful of players; we still feel that way".
