Mourinho accused of 3.3mn euro tax fraud in Spain

He added: "I am sure he will be one of the greats and we are following him".

"I'm a Man United fan, and my kids love him, so I hope that he'll be back".

It is still too early to tell if Ronaldo will leave, but it feels more likely that he will stay.

Portuguese sports daily A Bola had also claimed that Perez had already been informed of the 32-year-old's decision.

Perez has now confirmed that the club are not looking to bring in the Spanish worldwide and also revealed no contact has been made with the player since 2015. I have found everything out through the newspapers.

"I have not talked with Cristiano but they tell me has been treated badly in this country. We don't want to disturb his concentration with the national team", said Perez.

"Not I nor anyone at Madrid is contemplating that Cristiano could leave the club".

The accusation against Mourinho comes a week after the Madrid-based prosecutor's office accused Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo of defrauding Spain's tax office of 14.7 million euros ($16.5 million).

Perez is hopeful Ronaldo will stay, but has set the asking price at £1bn nonetheless, just to scare off any interested parties.

Perez's radio interview came hours after the 70-year-old businessman was reelected to a fifth four-year term as Madrid's president.

Ronaldo joined Real from Manchester United F.C.in 2009 for a then world record fee of 96 million euros and is their all-time top scorer with 404 goals in 394 games. Ironically, a return to United, where he would reunite with Mourinho, has been mooted.

"We're used to being the subject of intense transfer speculation during transfer windows", Rummenigge said in a statement. "As a rule, we do not comment on these rumours".

"No one has made us a single offer; not for Cristiano Ronaldo, not for Alvaro Morata, not for James Rodriguez". The club - which also won La Liga last season - lead the way in the elite European competition with 12 trophies.

Madrid's long-time president said the club had not received any transfer offers for Ronaldo.
