Louis wins U.S. approval to explore airport privatization

A Normandy police officer was conducting a routine traffic stop along I70 Westbound when he observed a vehicle commit a moving violation.

The officer gave chase and the SUV exited at the airport, striking a auto containing two women and two children.

The four were injured after a Normandy police officer saw a small gray SUV fail to yield the right-of-way on Interstate 70 and attempted to stop the vehicle after it exited at Lambert International Boulevard, St. Louis County police said. The 30-year-old woman who was driving and a 5-year-old boy are in critical, stable condition while a 9-year-old boy is in critical, unstable condition.

A News 4 viewer sent photos showing a person in handcuffs at the crash scene.

Three teenage suspects were taken into custody.

The 16-year-old SUV driver and two 15-year-old passengers were taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The roadway where the crash occurred reopened around 2: 20 p.m. after being closed for more than 3 hours.

The St. Louis County Police Department policy has a section on terminating pursuits and includes these instructions, "Pursuing police officer (s) should terminate pursuits when: The danger to the public or the pursuing police officer outweighs the necessity for immediate apprehension of the violator".

The St. Louis City Police Department was called to the scene to recover the stolen vehicle.

Other details regarding the incident have not been released.
