Dinakaran in Bengaluru, to meet Sasikala today

Dinakaran's Middleman Tried to Bribe EC, Confesses Arrested Aide

He said in Chennai that the meeting of the ministers was "unofficial" and only those meetings held at the AIADMK office were "official".

Events moved at a rapid pace after the Delhi Police registered a case against Dinakaran on the basis of information that he planned to bribe Election Commission officials to get the "two leaves" symbol which was frozen after the split in the party.

Dhinakaran's alleged middleman, Sukesh Chandrasekhar, was arrested from Hyatt hotel in Delhi on Sunday night, and Rs 1.3 crore was recovered from him.

Paneerselvam's hard stand came as a rude shock for the ruling faction's ministers and MLAs, who were on board INS Chennai, the warship dedicated to the city, on Tuesday morning.

Sasikala's elevation had bothered many along with Jaya's niece Deepa Jayakumar, who floated a new party called MGR Amma Deepa Peravai.

Meanwhile, Rajya Sabha member R. Vaithilingam, who belongs to the AIADMK (Amma) faction, said that a committee has been formed to initiate talks with the Panneerselvam camp and added that the AIADMK (Amma) faction was ready to hold discussions without any preconditions. They have betrayed her. Betrayers have to go, ' Panneerselvam added.

He reiterated that AIADMK founder and former Chief Minister M.G. Ramachandran and his successor Jayalalithaa led the party as a movement of cadres.

Talks for merger between the two factions appeared to have hit a roadblock with the former chief minister Panneerselvam's camp laying down conditions including a CBI probe into the the circumstances leading to Jayalalithaa's death.

Munusamy said the Panneerselvam faction had not demanded the posts of either the Chief Minister or the party general secretary.

In the troubled waters of Tamil Nadu politics, the latest name to cause ripples is that of TTV Dinakaran's. But Sasikala's conviction in a disproportionate assets corruption case in February led to a bitter battle between OPS and Sasikala resulting in her loyalist, Edappadi K Palanisamy (EPS), becoming chief minister. Instead of sailing or sinking with Dinakaran, the Edappadi camp chose to desert him to save the government and the party. He also dubbed Chief Minister Palaniswami as a nominee of jailed leader Sasikala. He claimed that the Palaniswami government was being controlled and influenced by Sasikala's family.

Thambi Durai later met the chief minister and discussed the developments with him.

The two factions had since staked claim to the two leaves symbol which the Election Commission subsequently froze.
