Chelsea still favourites for Cup semi-final, says Pochettino

21 April 2017, 06:18 | Jodi Jackson

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino insists Chelsea are favourites for their FA Cup semi-final clash at Wembley on Saturday afternoon.

Paul Clement has expressed interest in signing Chelsea captain John Terry this summer - if Swansea stay in the Premier League. Spurs will dream of something similar again in Saturday's FA Cup semi final.

When you compare the players who have won trophies, Chelsea have players who won the World Cup.

LONDON (Reuters) - Players from Premier League title-chasers Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur dominate the Professional Football Association's Team of the Year announced on Thursday, occupying eight of the starting 11 spots.

Conte will have noted how Manchester United's Ander Herrera man-marked Eden Hazard and made the most influential midfielder in the Premier League anonymous last weekend. Even during the recent draw with Arsenal and the defeat against Chelsea, City had more than enough chances to win both ties and scared the living hell out of their opponents in both games.

"I think if there is one favourite it's Chelsea because they are top of the table, because of the experienced players and the manager that they have", Pochettino, whose Tottenham side lost the 2015 League Cup final to Chelsea, told reporters yesterday. "Their players and manager have experience", Pochettino said. In 30 games this season he has bagged 14 goals and provided five assists and if Chelsea do go on to win the league, Hazard will have been one of the main contributors. They are more experienced than us. The team is playing in a good way, exciting football, scoring goals, conceding not too much. The Argentine also masterminded a 2-0 league victory over Chelsea in January, a result that abruptly ended the Blues 13-match unbeaten run in the top-flight. He has bagged 16 goals from midfield and there have already been comparisons to Chelsea legend Frank Lampard. You can guarantee the Chilean will step up to the plate, but the German often goes missing in these big games. "I hope to be a part of it", Begovic said.

Team mate Eric Dier said that the club's dismal record at Wembley, where they played their home European matches earlier this season, will not affect their performance tomorrow. We are building a foundation and he is important to this'.
