Donald Trump's Scent of a Woman' scene left on cutting room floor

Chris O'Donnell Trump cameo

Donald Trump, for all his newly adapted grumbling about "Hollywood elites", spent decades yearning to be accepted by that same circle.

A juicy new anecdote about Trump's Hollywood fandom has now come to light, courtesy of Chris O'Donnell, who recalled the time the businessman tried to snag a cameo in the 1992 Al Pacino drama Scent of a Woman. The part, O'Donnell explains, involved no dialogue; it just pictured Trump and Maples getting out of a auto near the Plaza.

Trump has many film and TV credits to his name including appearances in Home Alone 2: Lost In New York and HBO series Sex and the City.

O'Donnell was speaking on Conan O'Brien's US talk show when he revealed that the US President demanded that he and then-wife Marla Maples appeared in the film because location scouts wanted to shoot a scene in one of his NY hotels.

According to the actor, the future President and his then wife, Marla Maples, were filmed pulling up in a auto and arriving at the hotel at the end of an exterior scene. But he demanded a walk-on part for himself, O'Donnell said.

"I just pictured him going to countless movies with a Plaza scene with Popcorn going "here it comes" Conan joked.

In the end, O'Donnell said Trump's cameo "got cut out of the movie", which gave the Conan host and his audience a good laugh.

"It was we pull up in a limo and [Al] Pacino and I left and another auto pulled up and it was Donald Trump and Marla Maples walked out and went in", he said.
