Aaron Hernandez had Bible verse written on forehead

Prison officials say "Hernandez hanged himself utilizing a bed sheet that he attached to his cell window" in the Souza Baranowski Correctional Center. "Aaron Hernandez will go to his death an innocent man".

Department of Correction spokesman Christopher Fallon stressed the investigation is ongoing and officials had been unaware of Hernandez' suicidal thoughts.

State police are probing the suicide of convicted killer and ex-New England Patriot Aaron Hernandez in a MA prison this morning, and his legal team is vowing its own investigation.

The Worcester County district attorney's office and the Correction Department are investigating.

"Part of Aaron's problem is, he never got no street sense; [his father] Dennis sheltered them from that life with all his might", Gary Fortier, an ex-con and assistant pastor at a Bristol church who knew the Hernandez kids, told Rolling Stone in August 2013.

August 27, 2012: Hernandez signs a $40 million contract with the Patriots - and immediately donates $50,000 to a Patriots' charity.

Hernandez, a standout tight end on the 2008 University of Florida's national championship team, is drafted by the New England Patriots.

Just five days prior, Hernandez was acquitted of double murder charges dating back to a 2012 nightclub shooting.

As he extolled the team's virtues and saluted individual players, the president also did not name star quarterback Tom Brady, who notified the White House that he was dealing with a "personal family matter" and would not attend the ceremony. He caught 79 passes for 910 yards and seven touchdowns in his second year to help the team reach the Super Bowl.

Hernandez's acquittal, Monroe said, hinged on the testimony of star witness Alexander Bradley, a convict himself who he said jurors deemed unreliable.

As the jury deliberated, Hernandez was spotted blowing kisses to the young daughter he fathered with fiancee Shayanna Jenkins.

Investigators suggested Hernandez shot Lloyd to keep him quiet about the two earlier killings.

In the Dorchester neighborhood where Lloyd grew up, a family friend of the victim wondered if Hernandez could no longer bear the weight of his crime and his squandered potential.

"I just think it got to him - the guilt", Mixson Philip said. You can put on an act like nothing happened, but you've got a soul. "Mr. Hernandez also attempted to block his door from the inside by jamming the door with various items". I do believe the two people who were slain, they were living the American dream.
