[Update] PS4's Persona 5 Steelbook and 'Take Your Heart' Editions pre-orders canceled on Amazon

Persona 5 Amazon Orders Cancelled in Mass Due to Defect

This isn't the first we've reported of something going little helter-skelter with the distribution of Persona 5; one lucky fan has already posted an unboxing video of the Take Your Heart Premium Edition Bundle, weeks before the game's April 4 release date.

According to the reports, the Steelbook Edition and "Take your Heart" Premium Edition pre-orders are being canceled.

It is unclear which item or items inside the "Take Your Heart" Premium Edition previously led to the cancellations.

However, not all versions of the game were affected by the cancellations, as only the Steelbook and Take Your Heart special editions were cancelled by Amazon. They said it was a mistake, and that I should reorder the item.

Atlus received word from Amazon that there was indeed nothing defective nor risky about the Persona 5 special editions, and contrary to previous reports on mass cancellations, only a small number of Amazon sales were affected. "Although the amount of these substances in these products is usually quite limited, these products need to be transported in a certain way to ensure that they are handled with care".

Have any of our readers had their order cancelled?

Elsewhere, the NeoGAF thread's OP Chris R provided the following update: "Well, I got a response from Amazon".

The user than uploaded a screenshot of the email they received from Amazon after inquiring about why their order was canceled.

ThisGenGaming states that these copies of the game contained a "major defect" so Amazon returned them to their manufacturer. The problem seems to be with a select group of Steelbook editions and Collector's Editions.

The SteelBook Launch Edition costs $59.99, which comes especially packed in a SteelBook collectible case that is emblazoned with Persona 5 designs.

On a good note, it appears that this issue only affects Amazon orders and not those orders from other retailers.
