Shots fired at LA County Sheriff's Station in Temple City
McDonnell says the deputies followed the man into the parking lot, and he opened fire on them.
On their Facebook page, they announced that "Temple Station personnel engaged the suspect in an attempt to neutralize the threat".
A man armed with a shotgun and a handgun opened fire on Los Angeles County sheriff's deputies Monday in the parking lot of their station, unleashing a brief gunfight that ended with the suspect likely taking his own life, authorities said.
Two armored vehicles entered the parking lot about 8 a.m., with one of the vehicles approaching the SUV.
At one point, a team of deputies approached the SUV with guns drawn to get a view inside the vehicle.
As of this writing, there have been no deputies injured.
No deputies were injured during the exchange of gunfire. "Even in our home", Katz said. McDonnell says the man hopped into his SUV and engaged in a gunbattle with deputies from his vehicle.
The investigation is ongoing and there is no additional information available at this time.
Last week, a San Bernardino County Sheriff's deputy was sacked on as he responded to a robbery at a gas station. No deputies were harmed in the shooting. The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department immediately notifies the Office of the Inspector General who sends a representative to the incident scene and provides independent oversight throughout the investigative process. The Critical Incident Review panel convenes to perform a preliminary risk management analysis of the shooting. After throwing a stun grenade, about a half-dozen deputies took cover behind a ballistic shield and slowly approached the SUV to find the suspect dead inside the auto, authorities said.
Gorsuch Right for High Court
