Germany Turkey: 30000 Kurds in Frankfurt anti-Erdogan protest

"What Hans or Georges will say doesn't bother us", Mr Erdogan said on Saturday, two names he generally uses to mean the whole of Europe. In its over three-decade terror campaign against Turkey, more than 40,000 people have been killed.

Led by USA -based Fetullah Gulen, FETO is accused of orchestrating the July 15 coup plot as well as being behind a long-running campaign to overthrow the state through the infiltration of Turkish institutions, particularly the military, police, and the judiciary.

"Turkey has tried to convince us of that at every level, but so far it has not succeeded", Bruno Kahl was quoted as saying. "Before July 15, a big purge by the government was already under way". "They [European states] do not have the urge to hide their intentions and can not hide the discomfort they feel from Turkey, which is growing stronger", Erdogan said, as cited by Reuters.

"If they want, they can come to Turkey anytime to go through the evidence and testimonies".

Some demonstrators also carried flags featuring Abdullah Ocalan, the imprisoned leader of the banned Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), with which Turkish troops are embroiled in a long-running conflict in the country's south-east.

He said the demonstrators had used the upcoming Kurdish New Year festival of Newroz as a "pretext" for the rally as the new year falls on Tuesday.

Turkey's Foreign Ministry issued a condemnation of the rally, noting in a statement that the event included "symbols of the PKK terrorist organization and images of the chief terrorist".

A "yes" in the referendum would rewrite the constitution and transform Turkey from a parliamentary system to an executive presidency, giving Erdoğan unprecedented control to appoint ministers, pick senior judges, and dismiss parliament.

The PKK has been banned in Germany as a terrorist organisation since 1993.

Iyimaya told Al Jazeera that there is a "growing double standard" against Turkey in certain European countries, such as Germany. Against my brothers who live in Germany, and against my ministers and lawmakers who visit there.

But this is the first time he has directly called on parliament to approve it after the referendum on constitutional change.

Turkish officials have been seeking meetings with Turks living in Europe ahead of the referendum hoping to get the support of the strong diaspora - in Germany alone, there are 1.5 million people with Turkish citizenship.
